Text Description - Route A

Route A

Frequent bus rapid transit service every 15 minutes between Junction and Watts and East Towne via Mineral Point, Whitney, Sheboygan, Segoe, University, Campus Drive, University and Johnson, State Street, the Capitol Square, East Washington, Wright, Anderson, Mendota Street, and East Washington. Alternating trips continue east to the Sun Prairie Park and Ride via High Crossing (Route A1) and the American Center via Eastpark (Route A2).

BRT Route A1 (heading east to west)

  • Route A1 starts at the Sun Prairie Park and Ride on Reiner Rd. and gets on US Hwy. 151 heading west.

  • Bus exits onto High Crossing Blvd.

  • Follows High Crossing Blvd. and turns right on East Springs Dr.
  • Follows East Spring Dr. and turns left on E. Washington Ave. where route joins with BRT Route A2 and operates as BRT Route A.

BRT Route A2 (heading east to west)

  • Route A2 starts at Metro’s satellite bus facility on Hanson Rd. and heads east to Eastpark Blvd.
  • At Eastpark Blvd. the bus continues and follows Eastpark Blvd. to American Pkwy.
  • Turns right on American Pkwy
  • Turns right on Hwy. 151 heading west into Madison
  • At East Springs Dr., route joins with Route A1 and operates as BRT Route A.

BRT Route A

  • After BRT Routes A1 and A2 combine, the route travels west on E. Washington Ave.
  • Turns right on Mendota St.
  • Turns left on Anderson St.
  • Turns left on Wright St.
  • Turns right on E Washington Ave. to the Capitol Square
  • After traveling through the Capitol Square, turns right on State St.
  • Left on Gorham
  • Continue straight onto University Ave.
  • Continue straight onto Campus Dr.
  • Continue straight onto University Ave. to Segoe Rd.
  • Turns left on Segoe
  • Right on Sheboygan
  • Left on Whitney Way
  • Right on Mineral Point Rd.
  • Left on Junction Rd. to a terminal station/park and Ride on Junction Rd.

BRT Route A  (heading west to east)

  • Starts at park and ride on Junction Rd.
  • Follows Junction Rd. north to right on Mineral Point Rd.
  • Travels on Mineral Pt Rd. and turns left on Whitney Way
  • Follows Whitney Way to right on Sheboygan
  • Left on Segoe
  • Right on University Ave.
  • Travels on University Ave. to Campus Dr.
  • Continues on Campus Dr. to Johnson St.
  • Continues on Johnson to right on State St. to the Capitol Square
  • Travels around the Square to right on E. Washington
  • Continues east on E. Washington to Wright St.
  • Turns left on Wright St.
  • Right on Anderson
  • Right on Mendota St.
  • Left on E. Washington
  • Splits into A1 and A2 routes at E. Springs Dr. 

A1 to Sun Prairie

  • Turns right on E. Springs Dr.
  • Turns left on High Crossing Blvd.
  • Follows High Crossing Blvd.
  • Crosses Nelson Rd. and gets on Hwy. 151 heading east.
  • Following Hwy. 151 to right on Reiner Rd. heading to Sun Prairie park and ride.

A2 to American Center

  • At E. Springs Dr. bus continues on E. Washington/Hwy. 151
  • Exits at American Pkwy and turns left
  • Left on Eastpark
  • Follows Eastpark to Hanson Rd. where it ends at Metro’s satellite bus facility
