Madison Water Utility Joins Urban Water Sustainability Council

posted

The Madison Water Utility has joined the Urban Water Sustainability Council, which is part of the Clean Water America Alliance, a national organization focused on integrating all aspects of regional water sustainability. The mission of the organization is to achieve collaboration among professionals involved in the different water disciplines: drinking water, wastewater, storm water, and water management, to achieve common goals. Water Utility General Manager Tom Heikkinen says that membership in the council will help the utility connect with other members, such as the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, and the Milwaukee Water Council. "We want to work with our fellow water leaders to share ideas and strategies for creating green, sustainable cities," said Heikkinen. "This council will be a resource for us in our commitment to implementing green infrastructure and sustainable solutions to local and regional water issues."
