Northeast Madison Residents Can Clear Cloudy Water by Running Tap

posted

Due to a pump failure at a water well on Wheeler Road in the northeast side of Madison, some residents have been reporting cloudy water today. Water Utility workers have re-directed water supply to the area from other City wells, but the pump failure and subsequent pipe flushing has made the water appear cloudy from air bubbles and some mineral deposits. Utility officials say that the water is safe to drink but that residents should run their taps until the water runs clear before using it. Leaving a glass of water or panful of water uncovered for a period of time will also allow the air bubbles to dissipate and clear the water. Workers are currently examining the well pump to determine what repairs are needed.
