Some Madison Parks Ice Rinks Open Today!

The winter weather has cooperated for a few days. Some Madison Parks ice rinks will be open today. Not all areas or rinks are open and safe for ice skating! None of the Hockey rinks are open yet because the conditions have not provided the opportunity for staff to put up the hockey boards. Also, very notably - Vilas Park Lagoon is NOT yet open. There are areas that still have open water. The water in the lagoon can reach over 5 feet deep. For your safety, please stay off the Vilas Park lagoon. Please note that the weather will be warming up again in the next few days. The rink closings/openings will change daily with the weather conditions. Be sure to check the website for daily changes. Ice rinks that are open today: Tenney Park, 1330 Sherman Ave., Warming House, Concessions, Skate Rental. Hours: 11a.m. - 9p.m. Conditions: much of the lagoon is open for skating, however, there are areas with thin ice and open water. The unsafe areas are barricaded off. Hockey Rink closed. Elver Park, 1240 McKenna Blvd, Warming House, Concessions, Skate Rental. Hours: 11a.m. - 9p.m. Conditions: the general rink is open. Hockey Rink closed.. Vilas Park, 1339 Vilas Park Drive, Warming House, Concessions, Skate Rental. Hours: 11a.m. - 9p.m. Conditions: Small General rink is open. Hockey rink and Lagoon are closed. Olbrich Park, 201 Garrison Street. Warming House, Lights Hours: 11a.m. - 8:45p.m. Conditions: General rink open. Hockey rink closed. Warner Park, 2930 Sherman Ave., Warming House, Lights Hours: 11a.m. - 8:45p.m. Conditions: Lagoon open for skating.
