2014: K9 Basic Man-Trailing Workshop

This three-day training will consist of assisting each K9 Handler to develop an individual tracking training program based on their K9's drive and experience level.

Hard surface tracking will be introduced and techniques will be learned. A significant amount of the training will be modeled after National Bloodhound Training Institutes' founder Kevin Kocher. There will be numerous training topics to include: scent specific tracking/trailing in heavily contaminated areas, scent article starts, car seat starts, door ids, casting through an intersection, casting from a victim for a suspect (i.e. sexual assault scenario), developing a natural indication to id, no scent present/track ends due to vehicle pick up, and reading your K9's negatives on the track.
