2016: Beyond the Traffic Crash

What do you do when you don't have a driver? There are no seat belt injuries, confessions, video or witnesses. You've obtained the medical records of a 1000 pages; where do you find pertinent information for charging decisions, & what health records should you request? You can find the answers you need using the evidence available to you. This course looks at investigating serious/fatal injury crashes with an emphasis on occupant placement.

Kathy Sullivan is a legal nurse consultant for Habush, Habush & Rottier in Madison. She will guide you through the world of medical records. Dane County Medical Examiner Dr. Tranchida talks about where or how did some of the documented injuries occur & how that will help with placement in a vehicle. WSP Trooper Ryan Zukowski will bring a real case involving driver ID issues, discussing injuries that could be sustained from the collision, as well as most current investigative tools available. The day finishes with Assistant Attorney General Tara Jenswold discussing intricacies & legal challenges with a driver ID prosecution & an update on recent court cases.
