Supervisor Development Program

The Supervisor Development Program (SDP) is an in-depth program designed for supervisors at all levels within the City of Madison. Employees who participate in the SDP program will acquire a greater understanding of management knowledge, skills, and abilities to enable them to be successful in meeting the City mission, vision, values, and service promise within their current roles. Facilitators for the program will include Organizational Development experts and City leaders as well as local professionals with expertise in certain disciplines related to the public sector environment. The general program format will be hands-on using case studies, discussion, simulations, and experiential learning to discuss real challenges that supervisors face in the City of Madison every day. Participation in the program presents an exciting opportunity to develop the leadership potential of the City of Madison for the future. The program will be comprised of 13 modules, each addressing the environment, relationships, and challenges facing supervisors through an equity lens: • Leadership development and Management skills • Workforce management and development • Strategic Planning • Customer Service and Public Engagement • Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management • Process Management • Achieving Results
