2016: Trauma Informed Care-Advanced CIT Course

Madison Police Departments Training Center is presenting a full day event on Trauma Informed Care. This training is a result of frequent requests for advanced-level CIT-related topics. Trauma Informed Care and a Trauma Informed Approach is recognizing the signs and symptoms of Trauma in clients, contacts and families. Realizing the widespread impact upon the community and ourselves and learning how to respond / approach in order to de-escalate and regulate so individuals can manage a trauma induced life.

The training starts with Dr Richie Davidson from the Waismen Center who will present on Trauma & changes that occur with the brain especially during developmental stages.

Next are Nicki Laudolff, NWRO Correction Field Supervisor & MPD Officer Lester Moore and the effects of Trauma among the youth of our communities and how we can assist in moving these children onto a new path.

Joanna Becker-Clinical Coordinator for Building Bridges will present on Secondary Trauma and recognizing that first responders whether Police, Firefighters or Social Workers can suffer from being exposed to others going through trauma and how to effectively move through those experiences. Joanna will also be discussing effective communication with individuals who exhibit signs and behavior of traumatic experiences.
