2018: ARIDE - Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement

The Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) program was developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). ARIDE was created to address the gap in training between the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) Program. ARIDE is a 16 hour training course and is taught by DRE's (Drug Recognition Experts). This class will cover the following topics: ** SFST skills refresher ** Advanced sobriety tests (Modified Romberg balance, etc.) ** Legal update for SFST/OMVWI Laws ** Drugs in Society ** How drugs affect the human body. This class will also serve as a pre-requisite for those officers who wish to become Drug Recognition Experts (DRE's).
