We recently kicked off the 2018 Wanda Fullmore internship program for high school aged youth with a dinner event at the Central Library that included this year's interns, their families, City of Madison supervisors and Common Wealth employees. This program is designed to connect teens with local government to gain training, mentoring and employment opportunities.
Common Wealth provides the training and support that help bolster this unique program and I cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work, as well as the City supervisors who are revitalized from the energy, ideas and the perspective of working with the young. Together, they help make these internships beneficial and successful, while addressing one of our community's goals of addressing disparities in employment and educational success.
Wanda Fullmore retired from the City of Madison in 2015 after 39 years of service. She began her career as an intern and she is as excited as I am for these children to experience an opportunity that could potentially lead to a career as long as hers! I look forward to keeping you updated on their success stories throughout this summer.
