Celebrating Olbrich Gardens Volunteers

posted

Every year around Valentine’s Day, Olbrich Botanical Gardens hosts an annual volunteer celebration. I had the pleasure to attend the celebration this year and thank the volunteers for their contributions. In 2023, Olbrich’s 450 volunteers contributed over 21,000 hours of service! That’s equivalent to an additional 10 and a half full-time employees. The generous contribution of time by these volunteers makes it possible for Olbrich to do so much more than it would be able to otherwise.

Olbrich Gardens is a beloved space for both locals and tourists alike, welcoming more than 340,000 guests each year. But volunteers truly make the Gardens the amazing place that it is. They help in every area of the Gardens, from weeding and mulching to welcoming visitors in the lobby or Bolz Conservatory. They help at events and education programs, get the Conservatory ready for visitors each day, assist with routine office tasks, and so much more.

I appreciate Olbrich Volunteers and all volunteers who work to make our parks the amazing community assets they are every day. A huge thank you to each volunteer for their continued service to the City of Madison and for their commitment to serving as ambassadors of our community. Olbrich is an amazing place because of each and every one of them.
