drop off site information

The Streets Division has three yard waste drop-off sites for the use of City of Madison residents and taxpayers ONLY. Those using the site are required to show proof of residency or taxpayer status or they will be denied use of the site.

There are three sites at the following locations:


 

Yard Waste Drop-off Sites Hours:

Yard waste site transitions to winter hours effective December 5, 2016.

The South Point Rd. site will close at 4:30pm December 4, 2016 and will reopen at 8:30am on March 25, 2017.

Beginning December 5, 2016, only 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave. will be open for drop off at the below hours.

  • Monday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
  • Wednesday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
  • Thursday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
  • Saturday: Closed.
  • Sunday: Closed

The yard waste sites will be open at the below hours until December 4, 2016.

Please note that the drop-off sites are closed for all city holidays.

 

All three yard waste drop-off sites accept the following
  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Garden debris
  • Flowers and other plant waste.
  • Pumpkins and other organic fall decorations such as corn stalks and straw
  • Shrub trimmings shorter that 18”. Tree and shrub trimmings longer than 18” are considered brush. Brush is accepted at the 1501 W. Badger Road and 4602 Sycamore Avenue sites only. Do not bring brush to 402 South Point Road.
  • Garlic Mustard should be placed in the trash.
  • Small amounts of sod (4 or 5 five-gallon pails per day). Larger amounts of sod must be taken directly to the Dane County Rodefeld site.
  • The drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Av accept other materials. For details.

Brush

Brush is accepted at 4602 Sycamore Av and 1501 W. Badger Rd ONLY.

All brush brought to the drop off sites must conform to the curbside collection guidelines. For details..

THERE IS A LIMIT OF ONE PICK UP OR SMALL TRAILER LOAD OF BRUSH PER DAY.

Large amounts of brush can be taken to our brush processing center at 121 E. Olin Av for a fee. for more information on the Olin Av Site

Winter Hours:

Hours apply to the Badger Road and Sycamore Avenue sites. The South Point Road site is closed during the winter season.

Holiday Closings

The City of Madison self-help drop-off sites will be closed on the following holidays:

In observance of the Christmas holiday, the Streets Division drop-off site will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2016. The sites will also be closed on Monday, January 2, 2017 in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.

  • July 4, Independence Day
  • September 4, Labor Day
  • November 23 & 24, Thanksgiving Holiday

  • December 25th, Christmas Day (observed in 2016 on Monday, December 26)
