drop off site information

The Streets Division has three drop-off sites for the use of City of Madison residents and taxpayers only. Contractors may not use these sites.

Those using the site are required to show proof of residency or taxpayer status or they will be denied use of the site.

There are three sites at the following locations:


 

Drop-off Sites Hours:

Saturday, March 31, 2018 to Sunday, December 2, 2018

  • Monday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Tuesday 8:30am - 8:00pm
  • Wednesday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Thursday 8:30am - 8:00pm
  • Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Saturday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Sunday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Please note that the office hours are different from the drop-off site hours.

All three drop-off sites accept the following
  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Garden debris
  • Flowers and other plant waste.
  • Pumpkins and other organic fall decorations such as corn stalks and straw
  • Shrub trimmings shorter that 18”.
    • Tree and shrub trimmings longer than 18” are considered brush. Do not bring brush to 402 South Point Road.
  • Garlic Mustard should be placed in the trash.
  • Small amounts of sod (4 or 5 five-gallon pails per day). Larger amounts of sod must be taken directly to the Dane County Rodefeld site.
  • The drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave accept other materials. Visit the drop-off site page for more information.

Brush

Brush is accepted at 4602 Sycamore Ave. and 1501 W. Badger Rd.

All brush brought to the drop off sites must conform to the curbside collection guidelines. Visit the brush page for these guidelines.

THERE IS A LIMIT OF ONE PICK UP OR SMALL TRAILER LOAD OF BRUSH PER DAY.

Large amounts of brush can be taken to our Brush Processing Center at 121 E. Olin Ave for a fee. Visit the Brush Processing Center's page for more information.

Winter Hours:

Hours apply to the Badger Road and Sycamore Avenue sites. The South Point Road site is closed during the winter season.

Holiday Closings

The City of Madison self-help drop-off sites will be closed on the following holidays:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving & the Friday after Thanksgiving
  • December 25th, Christmas Day

Holiday Half Days

  • December 24th, Christmas Eve the sites close at 11 a.m.
  • December 31st, New Year's Eve the sites close at 11 a.m.
