Make Music Madison — an annual one-day, free, city-wide music celebration — returns June 21st. The motto of Make Music Madison is “performed by anyone, enjoyed by everyone.” Over 150 sites in nearly every corner of the city will host live music, from front-porches and backyards to restaurants, parks and hotels. It’s an opportunity to wander the city, enjoy the music, and support the musicians who make it all possible.

And it’s not too late to share your talent! This year you can join an impromptu choir, share your voice on an international livestream broadcast, learn the rhythms of classical Indian music & dance and find an open mic or a karaoke site (there is even Elvis karaoke!). Learn more & plan your day at makemusicmadison.org

Last year Madison had 194 venues, 602 concerts, and well-over 1,500 individual musicians participating all on this one day - the highest level of participation in North America, and one of the highest in the world!

Make Music Madison is part of the global Make Music Day movement, which sees over 2,000 cities worldwide unite with music every June 21st. Make Music Day is about fostering community bonds through the universal language of music. Our local initiative was established in 2013 by a passionate group of residents, with the backing of the City of Madison and the Madison Arts Commission.

Make Music Madison is a great chance to explore a new neighborhood, broaden your musical horizons and come together as a community to share our love of music. June 21st is the first day of summer, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to embrace the rhythm of community and creativity.
