City of Madison Accepts Forward Fleet Award at the 2025 Transportation & Innovation Expo
postedWisconsin Clean Cities presented the Forward Fleet Award to the top five Wisconsin fleets for their efforts in sustainable transportation – notably in displacing petroleum and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Assistant Fleet Superintendent Rachel Darken accepted the award on behalf of the City of Madison, one of two municipalities who were presented with the award.
The City of Madison is committed to reducing carbon emissions, and the Fleet Division has been at the forefront of that goal. Fleet has introduced electric vehicles throughout the Fleet, ranging from electric mowers to an electric sideloading garbage truck. In 2025, the City has expanded our testing of renewable diesel; testing different blends throughout the year and ensuring it does not cause any disruptions to daily operations. This program will continue to be crucial in reducing emissions within the heavy-duty part of the fleet.
A huge thank you to Wisconsin Clean Cities for the recognition!
