Yahara Hills Golf Course

Conveniently located 1/2 mile east of I-90 (exit 142B), this 36-hole regulation course is spread over 400 acres of rolling hillside. Yahara Hills clubhouse, built in 1967, preceded the opening of the golf course in 1968. It is Madison's largest facility with two 18-hole championship courses and has hosted various national and state tournaments. Both 18-hole courses feature large bunkered greens, well-placed hazards and beautiful water features. A practice area, which includes a 40, 000 square foot putting green and large driving range, is suitable for major competitions and available for those who would like to sharpen their skills.

Dan Breunig Lead Assistant Golf Professional, Yahara Hills Golf Course

Dan Breunig

Dan has recently obtained his Masters in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University. He also has a History degree from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Growing up in Sun Prairie, Dan played and took lessons at Yahara Hills throughout his junior golf career. Upon graduating from Sun Prairie High School he started working at Yahara Hills as an Assistant Golf Professional in 1997, where he worked for 13 years. After stints at Blackhawk Country Club and The Oaks Golf Course, Dan has returned to Yahara Hills. Dan has served the Outing and Events Coordinator since 2018. Dan is excited to fill this role with the City of Madison Golf Courses and looks forward to working with you to personalize each event and make it the very best experience for you and your guests! When not at the golf course he enjoys working out and spending time outdoors.

TJ Klement, Assistant Clubhouse Manager, Yahara Hills Golf Course

TJ Klement

TJ Klement grew up in McFarland where he began learning the game of golf at age 6. He played in the junior golf league at the Monona golf course for many years, and then played four years of varsity golf at McFarland High School with his team qualifying for the WIAA State Golf tournament all four years. He received all conference honors in football, hockey and golf along with All-State Academic honors in golf. TJ also played golf at Edgewood College before transferring to UW-Milwaukee, where he received his degree in Business and Marketing. Over the years, TJ received instruction from PGA Professionals Jim Schuman, Pat Gorman, Rob Muranyi and John Bailey. TJ also worked at the Yahara Hills Golf Course when he was younger and has now found his way back to become an Assistant Golf Professional. In his spare time, TJ enjoys playing golf and softball recreationally, as well as competing in tournaments. He also enjoys watching PGA Tour events and is a die-hard Packer, Badger and Bucks fan.

Ben Smaby

Ben Smaby, Assistant Clubhouse Manager, Yahara Hills Golf Course

Ben moved to La Crosse at the age of 10 where his passion for golf began. Growing up, he played baseball, football, soccer, basketball and golf. At Onalaska High School, Ben played four years of varsity golf and two years of varsity basketball. He worked with PGA Professional Tom Gees, and with Jim Kjellenberg and Joe DeRosa, at his home club growing up. He competed in many junior golf tournaments every summer, and in 2009 qualified for and competed in the Optimist International at PGA National in Palm Beach, FL. After graduating with highest honors in 2010, Ben chose to attend the University of Minnesota. He graduated in 2014 with a degree in Psychology and began a career in healthcare working in a variety of roles, most recently as a Contact Tracer with the Department of Health Services, and as an Operations Supervisor at SSM Health - St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Working in the golf business was something he had kept in the back of his mind, and good timing made the career switch possible. In his spare time, Ben enjoys golfing, reading, playing guitar, playing piano and spending time with his wife Megan and their dog Milo. Ben is pursuing a professional certification in Data Analysis and has begun working towards a PGA Professional education.
