Site Threat Assessment Visits
Our department offers site assessment visits to prevent and mitigate emergencies. These visits are intended to highlight and address security concerns before a crime or emergency occurs. Site assessments can include a phone conversation, or an in-person visit, to discuss considerations such as:
- Camera placement (interior/exterior)
- Lighting placement
- Security at entry points
- Identifying areas of concern
- Landscaping best practices
- Natural surveillance
- Access control
- Territorial reinforcement
- Transition zones
- Emergency response plan
- Alarms
This is not an exhaustive list, your site may have additional considerations that lead to further discussions. After the visit, we will discuss next steps and recommendations to address potential security concerns and improve overall site safety. Although the visit may take only a few hours, past sites have found great value in the ongoing relationships established through this process.
Due to their time-intensive nature, site threat assessment visits are reserved for businesses, places of worship, manufacturing sites, and larger apartment complexes. Unfortunately, we currently do not have the capacity to address residential concerns through site threat assessment visits. To discuss considerations specific to your place of residence, please contact your local police district.
To learn more about having a Threat Assessment Visit completed for your site, please contact Lt. Jimmy Imoehl (jimoehl@cityofmadison.com).
