Storm Clean Up Information

posted

July 20, 2006 - Storm Clean Up Information The City of Madison is in the process of cleaning up after the windstorm with occurred the evening of July 20th. Our clean up crews are working on the following problems: Our first priority is clearing trees and limbs that are blocking streets and sidewalks. Once that work is finished we will begin removing damaged limbs that are hanging over streets and sidewalks. Finally, we will be removing hanging limbs from trees in City parks. We have street sweepers out clearing up small debris from streets. In addition, we have crews from Engineering, Forestry, Parks, and Streets collecting downed limbs in the areas with storm damage. Those crews will continue to collect material on Friday July 21st. Collection from private property Our first priority will be to maintain the regular brush collection schedule. That means that we will be collecting brush in the Friday refuse collection district beginning on Monday July 24th. Residents in the Friday refuse collection district should have their material at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday the 24th and it will be collected sometime during the week. In addition to scheduled brush collection in the Friday refuse district, the Streets Division will have extra crews working in other areas with storm damage the week of July 24th. We plan to have those crews working overtime throughout the week or until the clean up is complete. Because there is no brush collection scheduled for the week of August 31st, we will be sending our crews to collect material from the storm as needed. Remember, limbs and trees removed by private contractors will not be collected by City crews. If you hire a contractor to remove limbs or cut down trees on your property they must haul the material away. Residents may also bring material to our two brush drop off sites. The sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd on the west side and 4602 Sycamore Av on the east side.
