Ice rinks, hybrids, lifeguards....what do they have in common? Madison Parks Division • The Madison Parks Division is proud to be supporting the University of Wisconsin Hybrid Vehicle Team by allowing the team to use the Westmorland Park ice rink for their on-going tests. The UW Hybrid Vehicle Team will be testing their vehicles on the ice on Thursday, February 15 from 11:30a.m.-1:00p.m. and again, if weather allows, on Wednesday, February 21 from 12:30p.m.-3:00p.m. Westmorland Park ice rink is open to the public daily from 4:00p.m.-8:45p.m. For more information about UW Hybrid Vehicle Team, contact Dan Mehr, at dkmehr@wisc.edu For more information about the Madison Parks Ice Rinks, go to: www.cityofmadison.com/parks • Madison Parks Lifeguard Samson Simeon will be participating in the WIAA Swimming & Diving State Championships this weekend. Samson Simeon was a lifeguard at both the new Goodman Pool and Madison Beaches. For more information, contact Fritz Kroncke, 267-4919. • B.L.A.S.T. Program continues. Madison Parks Beginner Lifeguard Aquatic Skills Training (BLAST) program continues throughout the winter. There is room for more participants in this innovative program to recruit and train minority lifeguards to work at Goodman Pool or the Madison Beaches. The BLAST participants are partnered with experienced swimmers to learn and practice the basic skills needed to enroll in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training program. Upon successful completion, the participants may then apply for a lifeguard position with the City. BLAST is currently meeting Sunday evenings from 7:00p.m.-8:15p.m. at the YMCA West Pool.
