Public Service Recognition Celebration

posted

Madison, WI - The City of Madison will be celebrating Public Service Recognition week with an event on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. A proclamation by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz honoring all City employees will be held on the steps of City Hall starting at 12:00 p.m. Representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department, Metro Transit, and the Streets Department will have some equipment on hand on the first block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. near the Capitol to view during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and tour a fire truck, check out a new hybrid bus, talk to a police officer about the K-9 unit and see what new vehicles the Streets Department uses. Public Service Recognition week is a time to help every citizen become more aware of the ways, both direct and indirect, that public services improve the quality of their lives. It is also a chance to highlight our accomplishments, to raise awareness of the good work City employees do every day, and to express appreciation for those efforts. The week offers an opportunity to celebrate the importance of contributions made by Madison's public servants.
