Successful Aging Class Offered

Take a closer look at the process of aging. What can we expect in the next stage? This course is an examination of the psychological and neurophysiologic foundations of our scientific understanding of late maturity. The emphasis is on acquiring the understanding and skill required for successful aging. The class will be divided into four sections: I. Human development over the lifespan: Erikson's 8 stages of development and the Attachment Theory II. Lectures from "The Mature Mind" by G. Gohen, M.D., an extension of Erikson's developmental theory to late maturity; III. Neurophysiology and pathology of the brain in late maturity; IV. Scientific foundations for establishing a practice of successful emotional and cognitive aging. Join moderator and lecturer, J. L. Sanders, Ph.D. on Monday, August 30 for 12 weeks (no class on Labor Day) from 4:30 - 6:00 pm at the Madison Senior Center, 330 W. Mifflin Street, Madison 53703. Light snacks will be provided.
