High Winds Lead to Additional Round of Brush Collection

posted

Street Division brush crews have just about completed the 8th and final brush collection cycle through the City. However, due to the wet ground conditions and high, gusty winds that occurred on Thursday, September 29th, there were a lot of branches and trees that came down all over the City. As a result, the Street Division will be making one more brush collection cycle through the City beginning on Monday, October 3rd. Crews will begin in the Monday refuse collection districts and systematically continue through to the Tuesday's, Wednesday's, Thursday's and finally Friday's areas. The extra brush collection does not come without a cost though. Staff that would normally be assigned to leaf collection will have to remain assigned to brush collection until this extra round of collection is completed. As a result, the first round or two of leaf collection will take additional time to complete. Please check out our website at www.cityofmadison.com/streets or call our hotline at 267-2088 for regularly updated brush and leaf collection information so that you will know when our brush and leaf crews will be in your neighborhood. Brush and leaves can also be brought into our Self Help Drop Off Sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave. Leaves and yard waste can also be taken to our Yard Waste Only site at 402 S. Point Dr. on Madison's far west side. The sites are currently open seven day a week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings they are open until 8 p.m.
