Never Forget Blood Drive - September 11

Each year, as September 11th approaches, firefighters and other first responders are asked to reach back and remember that day in 2001.  They reflect on how it affected them as firefighters and, in some cases, how it drove them to become firefighters.
 
Amidst the more formal remembrances, firefighters and police officers are once again using this day to give back in memory of their fallen colleagues.  Those who vividly remember that day will recall the dire need for blood donations and the overwhelming response it generated.
 
The need for blood donors is always great and the City of Madison Firefighters and Police Officers would like to commemorate the day by hosting a public blood drive at Madison Police Training Center, 5702 Femrite Drive, Madison, WI.  The Never Forget drive will be held September 11, 2014 from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
 
The Madison Firefighters and Madison Police Officers will engage in some friendly competition to benefit the American Red Cross by tracking the number of people each team can get to donate.  The Never Forget public blood drive is a great way to remember the victims, honor the brave responders, and rekindle the spirit of public service to help those in need. 
 
If you can’t donate on September 11th you can still support this blood drive by going to either of the fixed donation sites between September 11th - 18th:
 
American Red Cross East Donor Center:  2109 Zeier Rd.
American Red Cross West Donor Center:  4860 Sheboygan Ave.
 
Appointments are preferred - but walk-ins are welcomed.  For an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code: Public Safety, or search for the drive using the date September 11, 2014, or call (800) RED-CROSS.
