Structure Fire at Plan B Nightclub Causes Minimal Damage

No Injuries Reported at Night Club Fire
Shortly after 10:00 am, construction workers next door to 924 Williamson Street noticed smoke drifting through an interior wall from the business next door. The workers immediately dialed 911 with no delay. This quick action to alert the Madison Fire Department and investigating the cause of the smoke surely reduced the damage from the fire.
As the workers gazed in the windows from the sidewalk, they observed light gray smoke banking down in the locked business. They grabbed their own fire extinguisher and made their way to the upstairs door. Here they noticed a cleaning lady had entered the building. They immediately evacuated the woman to safety and then returned to locate the cause of the smoke. Making access into the bar area, one of the workers discharged the extinguisher at a spot in the ceiling where smoke was coming through.
Firefighters from Engine Company 3 quickly stretched a fire attack line and extinguished the fire above the bar and pulled portions of the ceiling down to ensure the fire did not spread to other sections of the building. The fire was knocked down and loss stopped minutes after Engine 3’s arrival. The origin of the fire was in the ceiling in the bar area. The cause appears to be accidental in nature. Investigators are still on the scene.
The fire caused damage between $10,000.00 and $20,000.00. Everyone evacuated the building with no injuries. The fast action taken by not only the Madison Fire Department, but also to observant construction workers minimized what could have been a major event.
They plan to open by New Years Eve.
