New Firefighters Begin Their Assignments in Madison on Sunday

 
 
City of Madison Fire Chief Steve Davis marked the end of another recruit class, his third as chief, on Friday, February 6, with commencement ceremonies at the Monona Terrace. The ceremony began at 2:00 p.m.
 
Chief Davis welcomed 16 new firefighters who successfully completed the department’s recruit academy under the direction of MFD training officers. Chief Davis previously led the training staff as a Division Chief.
Here are the candidates who received their badges and station assignments on Friday, and begin their first shifts on Sunday:
Adams, William M. was previously employed as a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Watertown Fire Department. He graduated from Oshkosh North High School and attended several colleges including UW Oshkosh, Fox Valley Technical College, and Gateway Technical College. 
 
Bowers, Paul T. was previously employed as an EMT-I with the village of McFarland Fire Rescue Department.  He also worked part-time with the National Organ Recovery Alliance. Paul graduated from Verona High School and also attended Madison College and Columbia Southern University.
 
Braun, Jonathan D. was previously employed with the Blooming Grove Fire Department as a Lieutenant/Paramedic. He graduated from Marshall High School and also attended Madison College.
 
Engelhart, Jacob M. was previously employed full-time as an EMT at Oregon Area EMS.  He also worked as a Paramedic with the Sun Prairie and Town of Madison EMS.  Additionally, he worked for Madison College as an EMS teaching assistant. Jacob graduated from Oregon High School and has attended Madison College.
Fuchs, Austin G. was in the US Army from 2006 until July 2014, where he worked as Company Commander and Observer Controller/Trainer. Austin attended West Chicago Community College and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Norwich University.
 
Hansbro, Andrey was previously employed part-time at FedEx Ground and full-time at TDS Telecom as a customer service representative. He graduated from Madison East High School and attended Alcorn State University. 
 
Holum, Jameson M. was previously employed full-time at Ostrander Masonry and part-time with Fitchburg Fire Department as a firefighter. He attended Mount Horeb High School and Madison Area Technical College.
 
Langer, Allison M. previously worked full-time at Wauwatosa Fire Department as a Fire Lieutenant.  She also worked part-time with Fitchburg Fire Department as a firefighter. Allison attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Bloomington, MN and also attended Milwaukee Area Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College, Madison Area Technical College, and University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
 
Nelson, Justin G. was previously employed as a roofing technician with Nelson Roofing Co. He served in the U.S. Army from 2004 to 2008.  Justin graduated from Stoughton High School and attended Madison Media Institute.
 
Nindorf, Kelly J. was previously employed full-time with Oregon Fire-EMS as an EMT-I. Kelly attended Montello High School and Madison Area Technical College. 
 
Smith, Elizabeth M. was previously employed part-time with the Village of Elm Grove Fire Department as a firefighter.  She also worked at Wisconsin Athletic Club as a supervisor. Elizabeth attended Brookfield Academy and also attended Marquette University and Madison Area Technical College. 
 
Pulver, Shandra M. was previously employed part-time with Montana Air Guard and was self-employed as a home renovation specialist. Shandra attended Wisconsin Heights High School.  She also attended Madison Area Technical College, the University of Maryland-University College, and the Wisconsin Aviation-Madison.
 
Stebbins, Ty is serving our country on active duty. He was previously employed with the Military Personnel Services Corporation as an event coordinator.  He was also employed with the Wisconsin Air National Guard as an intelligence operations specialist. Ty attended Sauk Prairie High School and also attended Madison Area Technical College and Cardinal Stritch University.
 
Whitehorse, Dustin J. was previously employed full-time with Dane County Public Communications Center as a dispatcher. Dustin attended LaFollette High School.  He also attended Madison Area Technical College.
 
Williams, Reggie Jr. was previously employed full-time with the Madison Metro School District as a golf and basketball coach.  He was also employed part-time with 4-Lakes Driving School as an instructor. Reggie attended East High School and also attended Madison Area Technical College.
 
Wong, Mathew G. was previously employed part-time at Meriter Hospital as a nuclear medicine technologist.  He has also been a member of the Army National Guard since 2005.  Mathew attended Thomas More High School in Milwaukee, WI.  He also attended UW-LaCrosse and Virterbo University.
