Water bottle refilling stations debut in 3 Madison elementary schools

The schools are the first MMSD elementaries to receive bottle refilling stations
Join us as we celebrate healthy choices in Madison schools! For the first time ever, water bottle refilling stations have been installed in Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools. Three schools (Leopold, Huegel and Elvehjem) were chosen by the Childhood Obesity Prevention Collaborative of Dane County to receive the stations, which were funded by Madison Water Utility and installed by MMSD.
This month, community groups, teachers, staff and students will come together at Leopold, Huegel and Elvehjem for Got Water celebrations. The events will focus on teaching kids to stay active and to make water the healthy choice. The Collaborative and its community partners American Family Children's Hospital, YMCA of Dane County and Madison Water Utility will also make sure each and every child can use the stations by handing out more than 1,700 new water bottles. Madison Water Utility’s Water Wagon and MSCR's FIT2GO van will also be making appearances.
Two of the Got Water events take place during national Drinking Water Week (May 3-9), a week meant to highlight the value of safe, reliable drinking water. At Madison Water Utility, we believe there's no better way to celebrate Drinking Water Week than by helping make Madison water accessible and fun for our youngest customers.
