Additional officers now on patrol
Yesterday marked the beginning the two week long “Click It Or Ticket” campaign. The Madison Police Department is proud to participate, once again, in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s initiative.Additional officers will be on patrol from now until May 31st. They will be looking to stop drivers who commit traffic violations, and that includes failure to wear a safety belt. Under state law, officers can pull you over if you or your passengers are unbelted. “Although more people are buckling up in Wisconsin, improvement is still needed. Remember safety belts save lives and prevent serious injury,” said MPD Traffic Unit Lt. Trevor Knight.
Drivers are asked to:
- buckle up
- not drive under the influence
- observe posted speed limits
- operate safely
- yield the right-of-way to pedestrians in crosswalks
The Madison Police Department strongly supports the "Zero In Wisconsin" campaign and believes it is up to all of us to make a difference!
