EAB Infested Wood

Did you know EAB infested wood may not be moved into or within Madison city limits from April through September? This is a City ordinance and subject to a fine up to $500 per day. Time outside of these six months (October through March) movement of infested wood is permitted.
This is the time of year for adult beetles mating and laying eggs on ash trees which increases and spreads their population. Per Madison General Ordinance (section 23.40) no person, firm or corporation shall transport infested wood into or within Madison city limits without prior permission is prohibited and subject to a fine of up to $500 per day. Any person, firm or corporation wishing to move EAB infested wood must first obtain written permission from the forestry section. The general forestry line is 266-4816.
