Thanksgiving Message from Mayor Soglin

posted

As we prepare to fan out across the City, State and Country to spend time with family and loved ones for the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to pass on my appreciation for you and for the work you do each and every day to make this City a better place, to live, work, play and raise a family. I know full well, that a number of City employees will be working on Thursday and you have our thanks. Our City is safer because of you. Others, who are able to enjoy a couple of days off, will return to work on Monday to continue to serve the residents of this community; to be, in many cases, the unsung heroes who are lining the storm sewers, collecting refuse, providing housing for families, services for the disenfranchised, support for families, transportation throughout the City, planning for business development, keeping us safe day and night and too many other services to mention.

Some of us remain concerned about the national political mood. I assure you as Mayor, our City will continue to appreciate and value the work of public employees and to respect everyone we serve.

With gratitude,
Paul R. Soglin
Mayor
