City of Madison Flooding Update-Tuesday, August 28, 2018, 9:00 p.m.

Fortunately, the storms predicted for Madison earlier this evening tracked to both the north and south, and the city itself received much less rain than predicted. The prediction for overnight has a lower risk for flash flooding.

“I am relieved that the City received lower rain totals than predicted yet again,” said Mayor Paul Soglin. “The forecast for the next few days additionally appears to be dryer. City staff will continue to monitor as well as manage the changes and keep the public informed.”

Madison Traffic Engineering continues to monitor rain levels and road conditions. Some traffic lanes were closed.
One lane of First Street is closed in both directions at the East Johnson Street intersection through East Dayton Street.

Livingston Street has been closed between East Washington and Dayton Street and will remain closed through morning drive tomorrow. The road is also closed between East Washington south to the railroad tracks due to construction projects.

Please remember that tomorrow, additional water will be released from Lake Mendota and there certainly could be more effects on the isthmus streets.
