Task Force on Structure of City Government

posted

Last year the Madison Common Council created a special task force on city government to examine and make recommendations on the structure and powers of the Mayor’s Office, Common Council, and the City’s Boards, Commissions, and Committees.

The Task Force has met regularly since February and plans to issue a report with recommendations to the Common Council in mid-2019. The Task Force is currently collecting information and input from current and former government officials in preparation for conducting a larger public outreach process.

The Task Force will meet on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Monona Terrace to hear presentations from former and current mayors as part of its information collection process. The Task Force will hear from former Mayor Cieslewicz at 8:30 a.m.; former Mayor Skornicka at 9:00 a.m.; former Mayor Sensenbrenner at 9:30 a.m.; and current Mayor Soglin at 10:00 a.m.

After the presentations, the Task Force and public will have an opportunity to ask questions of the former and current mayors.

The event is free and open to the public. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided.
