Erin Hillson Named City of Madison Director of Human Resources

Following a nation-wide search, Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway announced today the hiring of Erin Hillson as the next Director of Human Resources for the City of Madison.

Erin has served as a City of Madison employee for 25 years. Her work in Human Resources includes leadership roles in both Employee and Labor Relations and Organizational Development.

“I was really pleased with the caliber of candidates who applied and interviewed for this important position,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “Erin stood out, as she has demonstrated her passion for the work all City employees do to make this a community that is innovative, inclusive and thriving. She understands the important role that Human Resources plays in creating an exceptional employee experience, and the changes needed to keep the City an employer of choice. I want to add my special thanks to Gregg McManners, who has operated as Interim Director for the past months.”

Ms. Hillson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW Madison, a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations from UW Milwaukee, and a certificate in mediation and negotiation from UW Milwaukee.

Her first day in her new position will be December 12.
