Goodman Pool Hosts All-City Swim, Pool Closed Starting July 21

posted

Madison’s All-City Championship Swim Meet is happening July 27-29 at the Goodman Pool! Cheer on the Goodman Waves Swim Team as they host, for the first time in history, one of the largest outdoor amateur swim meets. The All-City Swim Meet, founded in 1962 with five teams, is now 13 teams comprised of thousands of swimmers of all abilities. Each Saturday in June and July, swimmers compete in dual-team meets, with the season culminating at the end of July. Thirteen area teams will compete in the All-City Swim Meet at the Goodman Pool, from Thursday, July 27 through Saturday, July 29, 2023. Volunteers and spectators are welcome.

Visitors and neighbors to the Goodman Pool, located at 325 W. Olin Ave. can anticipate increased pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic during the event and should use caution when traveling in the area. In addition, the Streets Division’s E. Olin Ave. facility will be closed July 27-29.

Prepping for this event, with more than 7,000 participants, volunteers and spectators expected, is no small feat. As we prepare and host the event, Goodman Pool will be closed for public swimming including lessons, lap and tot swim, starting Friday, July 21 and continuing through Monday, July 31, 2023. The Pool may reopen for public swimming on Monday, July 31, if a rain delay is not needed during the event. Any updates will be posted as an alert on the Goodman Pool website.

As a bonus, lifeguard service will be provided at Vilas and Warner beaches during the Pool closure. Vilas Park will also offer light concessions available for purchase.
