MPD volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

MADISON, Wis. – Lending their hearts, hands and muscles, members the Madison Police Department recently volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House.

A group of commanders opted to spend their management team meeting out in the community.

Commanders with the Madison Police Department volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House.

They helped move furniture and organized the food supply room at the Madison location.

“It was a wonderful experience,” said Captain Stephanie Drescher who oversees patrol operations.

“This opportunity allowed us to benefit families going through the toughest of times.”

A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost. 

The Madison location opened in 1993. In 2019, the House was remodeled and expanded to 31 rooms to fulfill increasing demands and long wait lists.

Around 11,000 night-stays are provided annually by the Madison location. 

“We are honored to be part of the process to get these families back home,” Captain Drescher said.
