Absentee Ballots are in the Mail

The Madison City Clerk’s Office has mailed absentee ballots to 13,162 voters for the April 2 Spring Election.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said, “Voting is one of the most important things we can do as citizens of this country, and I know this is an opportunity in which we are proud to participate. This election is incredibly important, and we need to get involved and stay involved.”

Absentee ballots must be returned early enough for the Clerk’s Office to deliver them to the polls to be counted on Election Day. Postmarks do not count.

The state has revised its absentee envelope design. Voters will notice that the envelopes are now printed with colorful ink. Each highlighted section on the envelope must be completed. In order for an absentee ballot to count, the absentee envelope must be:

• Sealed
• Signed by the voter
• Signed by the voter’s witness
• Complete with the printed name of the voter’s witness
• Filled out with the witness’ address

In-person absentee voting will be available beginning Tuesday, March 19.

The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot count.
