Mayor's Statement re: Council Adoption of Allied Drive Redevelopment Plan

posted

Madison - Mayor Dave Cieslewicz made the following statement regarding the Common Council's 15 to 2 vote in support of the Allied Drive Redevelopment Plan: "The Common Council's approval of the Allied redevelopment plan allows the City to move from talk to action on behalf of a neighborhood that badly needs our support. It allows the City to fulfill one of its most important functions: strengthening neighborhoods in ways that provide a high quality of life to residents in all areas of our city. I am grateful for the Council's endorsement and for the leadership of Alder Brian Solomon, who has worked hard to form consensus out of many differing needs and wants. I'd also like to thank the citizens on the Allied Drive Task Force for their dedication to ensuring this plan meets the needs of the neighborhood and its residents. "This plan is about far more than bricks and mortar. It is a catalyst for change that has the potential to transform the neighborhood. The Council made the right decision tonight."
