Winter Activity update for Dec. 18

Ice Skating Rinks - Vilas Park and Tenney Park skating rinks are open today. They will remain open tonight as long as the weather permits. Staff has continued on daily maintenance of the ice rinks and will open the other skating rinks as soon as they are safe. Ski Trails - Staff continued to roll and pack the base at Odana Golf Course and Elver Park today. After tonight and tomorrow's snow, staff plans to pack and set track at Odana and Elver. Odana Golf Course will have ski rentals on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. Sledding Hills - Conditions are good at the sledding hills, and will only get better with the snow. Parks Staff reminds everyone to have fun, be safe and respect your fellow sledders. Bring your own sleds. Keep a safe distance from others when sledding. Exit the bottom of the hill as quickly as possible. Walk up the hill using the side of the hill. And remember, the use of the sledding hill is at your own risk. With each snowfall, we like to remind the public that park staff immediate priority is for public safety. Staff will be plowing streets, sidewalks and bike trails. Ice Rink and Ski Trail maintenance will resume after those jobs are completed.
