The Photography of Peter F. Castro:

The Madison Arts Commission's ARTspace program presents "Madiscapes," The Photography of Peter F. Castro March 3 - April 30, 2009 Exhibition hours M-F 7:00-5:00, S 8:00-12:00, closed Sunday "Madison is my muse. Whether in muted tones or volcanic vibrancy, her siren's song calls to me. With my camera, I capture her beauty. With my photography, I share her majesty." - Peter F. Castro. The gallery walls of the Madison Municipal Building will feature the artwork of Peter F. Castro for the months of March and April. Castro's exhibition, Madiscapes, is a fine art photographic collection of Madison's natural and urban landscapes. He draws his inspirations from Ansel Adams, Salvador Dali, Roger Waters and Trent Reznor. By using the techniques of HDR, High Dynamic Range, and faux-miniaturization, he investigates methods to meld these giants' emotional tone and striking surrealism into the photographic medium. Castro said of his collection that it "rekindles that childlike sense of wonder and awe". Castro has recently turned his photographic passion from hobby to career. He revisted and photographed some of the city's unique and inspiring locations he initially discovered while working as an arborist for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Conservation Ranger for the city of Madison. He graduated in the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. The Madison Arts Commission's ARTspace program is open to all Madison visual artists who would like to showcase original two-dimensional works in highly utilized city spaces.
