"Flower Flags" by Caroline Hoffman

There will soon be some new flowers blooming on the 200 Block of State Street. These bright "plants" were created through a hybrid merging between construction flags and Photoshop. Local artist Caroline Hoffman's "Flower Flags" will be installed in the granite planters on the south side of the 200 block of State Street from October 2, 2009 through October 20, 2009. The 4 by 4 inch flags display vibrant images of more than 75 different flowers. The 300-plus colorful flags will surprise and delight the pedestrians of State Street. "Flower Flags" is sponsored in part by the Madison Arts Commission's Blink Temporary Art Program and by Budget Signs and Specialties. Contact the artist for more information about Flower Flags: Caroline Hoffman at carolinehoff@charter.net For more information about the Madison Arts Commission's BLINK! grants, or to view images from the artist's proposals, please visit our website at http://www.cityofmadison.com/MAC/grants/Blink.cfm or contact Karin Wolf, the Arts Program Administrator kwolf@cityofmadison.com Next BLINK application deadline is October 1, 2009.
