Hazardous Incident Team Responds to Odor Investigation

posted

The Madison Fire Department Hazardous Incident Team (HIT) assisted units at the scene of an odor investigation at 417 Rogers Street this evening. Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 4:37 PM and found a man at this address who had been sprayed with an unknown liquid. The man was checked by paramedics at the scene and chose not to be taken to a hospital. The HIT unit was requested due to a strong odor in the apartment and the unknown nature of the liquid. Members of the Hazardous Incident Team used monitors to check the air quality in the building and collected samples of the liquid. Although they could not identify the liquid, the technicians determined that it did not present a hazard to the people in the building. The four unit apartment building was evacuated while the HIT technicians collected and tested the samples.
