New Partnership with Uniek Inc. of Waunakee

The City of Madison has joined with Uniek Inc of Waunakee in a program to recycle Polystyrene (Styrofoam) packaging material. We will kick off the program with our first "Styrofoam Saturday" collection on March 26th. Styrofoam will be accepted at the City Transfer Station 121 E. Olin Ave. from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Uniek Inc. is the premier designer, manufacturer, and supplier of picture frames and home decor accents for retailers in North America. Their manufacturing plant in Waunakee is accepting the collected Styrofoam and will reprocess it into material they can use to make picture frames. Madison is one of 3 collection sites around the United States who have partnered with Uniek to utilize otherwise landfill-bound Styrofoam. A press conference will take place on Thursday March 24 at 10:00AM at Uniek Inc, 805 Uniek Dr. Waunakee, WI. Details of the collection along with a demonstration of the reprocessing and picture frame manufacturing will be offered. The press conference is not open to the public only representatives of the news media.
