City Boat Launch Piers Installed

The ice is off the lakes, and the City of Madison boat launch piers are in and ready! While fishing season doesn't officially opens until Saturday, May 7, now is a good time to make sure you have all of the gear you need for a great first day - new fishing pole, lures, worms, net - and a Lake Access permit. A Lake Access Permit is required for all designated launch sites in the City of Madison, City of Monona, and Dane County Parks. You can buy your daily or annual lake access permit at the launch site, at the Madison Parks Office at 210 MLK Jr. Blvd, Suite 104 or on-line (www.madisonpay.com) Tax included in price. Annual Dane County Resident $ 35 Annual Non-Resident $ 45 Dane County Senior (age 65 & up) $ 18 Non-Resident Senior (age 65 & up) $ 25 Disabled Person $ 18 Duplicate/Replacement Permit $ 15 Daily Permit $ 8 Permits are required year-round. Please note that the 2011 permit will be valid until March 31, 2012. When the launch parking lot is full, you must find an alternative launch site. Parking in the long stalls is for vehicles with trailers only. (Ordinance 8.21) Parking in the short stalls is for single vehicles only. (Ordinance 8.21) Canoe and Kayak Storage Locations The City of Madison Parks Division offers a variety of waterfront park locations to store canoes and kayaks. To inquire about an available location, please call 266-4711. Prices for all outdoor storage locations: $85 resident/$149 non-resident. Tax not included.
