Rhythm & Booms A Go At Warner Again This Year

Rhythm & Booms, Madison's official Independence Day Celebration, will take place again this year at Warner Park on Saturday, July 2nd, Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and event founder Terry Kelly announced today. "There had been some concern about road reconstruction around the park, but we've worked with city staff and believe that the event can take place with minimal disruption," Cieslewicz said. "It should be another great event this year." Terry Kelly added, "New for 2011 is "Run to the Rhythm", our officially sanctioned and professionally timed 5K run and 2-mile walk, which starts on the Sherman Avenue side of Warner Park at 9:00am that day. Proceeds after expenses go to support Rhythm and Booms, and we're providing music, refreshments, and free lunch after the run in the Classic Hits Stage area. Also, the U. S. Army Golden Knights precision parachute team will do a night jump with pyrotechnics just before the Midwest's biggest fireworks display. Our carnival, a Mallards baseball game, family visits and pictures with Dora the Explorer and Ben10 costume characters, and a thrilling over flight of Wisconsin Air National Guard F-16s will make it a memorable day for all ages." More details on access to the park and transportation alternatives will be available as the event gets closer. Parking at MATC (with roundtrip busing) and at Northport Plaza will again be available.
