
MFD Fill the Boot for MDA
City of Madison firefighters expect to be more visible than usual this week as they take up posts around the City to Fill the Boot with donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Madison Local 311 along with the Madison Fire Department will be participating in the 1st Annual Fill the Boot (FTB) on duty and on the street to benefit MDA. Crews will be out today through Thursday, 4:00 - 6:00 pm. All money raised will benefit families in Dane County battling a neuromuscular disease. In the interests of safety and to avoid traffic tie-ups, all participating firefighters will be wearing safety vests and collect donations only when lights are red. Pizza Hut is supporting the cause by donating pizzas for firehouses, since crews will be out in the community during their normal food preparation and dinner hour Firefighters will remain on duty and ready for emergency calls in their respective territories at these locations: Station 1 - W. Johnson and State St. Station 2 - Mineral Point and S. Whitney Way Station 3 - Blair and East Washington Station 4 - Monroe and Regent Station 5 - Cottage Grove and Acewood Station 6 - Olin and John Nolen Station 7 - Raymond Rd and McKenna Blvd Station 8 - Fair Oaks (right) and East Washington Station 9 - Midvale Blvd and Regent Station 10 - Northport and Sherman Station 11 - High Crossing Blvd and Nelson Rd Station 12 - Old Sauk and Excelsior The money collected will be used to fund MDA Summer Camp, clinic visits at UW Hospitals, support groups, equipment and research.
