Duplex Destroyed By Fire

At 11:26 am, 911 Communications Center received many frantic calls reporting flames shooting from a home on Park Edge Drive. As firefighters from Station #7 on McKenna Boulevard were leaving the fire house, they noticed a black column of smoke in the sky. Crews arrived at 6802 and 6804 Park Edge Drive, where flames were shooting 20 feet from the roof line. Crews quickly suppressed the fire, using 2½ inch hose lines and a water tower. The fire was knocked down at 11:49 am. Both families escaped the fire uninjured. Red Cross is assisting a total of 14 people with immediate needs. One person was treated and released at the scene. Damage estimate, including contents, is $300,000. The fire is under investigation.
