CampHERO
Girl Scouts Learn Protective Services
The Madison Police Department is challenging stereotypes by helping lead the first Girl Scout camp of its kind. CampHERO, a Girl Scout initiative, is aimed at building character and self-esteem in girls (kindergarten through high school) by exposing them to the protective services: police officer, detective, firefighter, paramedic, 911 dispatcher, etc. Some 160 campers from the Wisconsin Badgerland Council are taking part in the inaugural camp which is being held at the Madison College's Fire Training Center. If you would like to learn more, there is a MPD YouTube video posted on our website. In it MPD Lt. Jen Krueger Favour and Madison Fire Department Lt. Jen Roman talk about their hopes for the unique Girl Scout camp. The video can be found at: http://youtu.be/71qA7gJCmYs
