Madison Public Library Named a Winner in Nationwide Harry Potter Librarians' Contest from Scholastic

Community and Media Invited to Join the Library's Harry Potter Party Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the First Harry Potter Book on August 27 at 4:30 pm

Madison Public Library is proud to have been selected as one of the 15 winning libraries in the national Harry Potter Librarians' Contest from Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter series. Madison Public Library will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the U.S. publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first book in the award-winning Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, with a fabulous Harry Potter Party designed to introduce a new generation of readers to the award-winning series and share the excitement over the brand new trade paperback editions of all seven books to be released on August 27, 2013. The new trade paperbacks feature all new covers by #1 New York Times bestselling author/artist, Kazu Kibuishi. Madison's Harry Potter Party will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 4:30-6 pm, at the Orchard Ridge Elementary School, 5602 Russett Road, Madison. Madison Public Library was chosen out of hundreds of entries based on the creativity, originality, and promotional plan for the event which will be held on August 27 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. As a winner, the library will receive: • 100 copies of the new trade paperback edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, with the new cover illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi, to give away at the celebration • One new paperback boxed set of all seven Harry Potter books signed by Kibuishi for the library • $100 gift card towards the Harry Potter celebration • A Harry Potter event kit with sticker sheets, name tags, bookmarks, activities, and more Activities planned by Meadowridge Library librarian Jody Lovaj and Orchard Ridge Elementary School librarian Samantha Skar will include: • A chance to walk down Platform No. 9 ¾ • Animation creation using Harry Potter backgrounds • Chess learning demonstrations • Games of Quidditch • A visit from the Magizoologists from Henry Vilas Zoo • Costumes welcome! • Free copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone "We are thrilled to see librarians remain passionate and committed to spreading their love of Harry Potter," said Ellie Berger, President of Trade Publishing.
