Service Excellence Award

Madison, WI – Wisconsin Secretary of Tourism, Stephanie Klett and Governor Scott Walker presented Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center with the Governor’s Tourism Service Excellence Award in Lake Geneva last night at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism.  The award recognizes the Wisconsin business that has achieved significant success and growth by providing exceptional service to their customers and a strong, charitable involvement in their community.

Monona Terrace produces free programs that serve over 50,000 people each year, and boasts a crew of approximately 60 volunteers that help make this possible.  This community outreach combined with compelling guest survey results of 100% willing to recommend and 99% willing to return, helped Monona Terrace achieve this designation. "Monona Terrace is truly deserving of this high honor and recognition for their continued excellence in serving the greater Madison community. We congratulate and applaud our colleagues for this honor to their long-standing excellence in creating memorable experiences, said Deb Archer President and CEO of the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Other factors considered for the tourism award included the facility’s U.S. Green Building Council LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for an Existing Building) silver certification, promoting a whole building approach to sustainability in its day-to-day operations.  The exceptional media coverage by both local and national media outlets, and the numerous past awards for customer service, best venue, and sustainability were among the other criteria considered for the designation.  “It is our honor to receive this award for community and customer service excellence.  It reinforces our vision to deliver an exceptional and inspirational experience for all visitors.  If we can deliver great memories that keep people coming back to Wisconsin, then we know we have succeeded,” said Monona Terrace Executive Director Gregg McManners.

Monona Terrace is located at One John Nolen Drive in Madison. Monona Terrace hosts approximately 600 client events each year resulting in over $52.5 million in annual economic impact for the community. The Frank Lloyd Wright designed  facility has a mission to be a high quality, customer focused convention and meeting facility that serves as a community gathering place, a tourism destination and a catalyst for economic activity for the City of Madison, Dane County and the State of Wisconsin.
