Rev. Alex Gee to discuss race relations with Council Work Group

posted

Meeting is set for Tuesday, March 18 at 4:30 p.m. (Room 260, Madison Municipal Building)

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 4:30 pm, Reverend Gee will be discussing race relations with the Madison Common Council Work Group on Demographic Change. The meeting will take place in the Madison Municipal Building in Room 260. Rather than a presentation, this will be conversation among council members and the Reverend regarding the topic of race relations in Madison.

In February of 2013 the Common Council outlined a Legislative Agenda, and formed work groups with the goal of developing and implementing policies not otherwise addressed within our City's committee structure. The Demographic Change Work Group conducted research and met with experts throughout the year especially focused on demographic data and trends, senior issues, racial inequity, and economic policy tools to promote equity. An interim report with recommendations is currently circulating through Madison committees and will be voting on by the Common Council in late April.

The Work Group members are Alder Lauren Cnare, Alder Anita Weier, Alder Matt Phair and Alder Scott Resnick (Chair).
