Friends of the Madison Public Library Annual Meeting Features Wisconsin Author Michael Perry

Wisconsin author Michael Perry will be the featured speaker at the annual membership meeting of the Friends of the Madison Public Library on Monday, May 12 at 7:30 pm at the Central Library. 

Raised on a small Midwestern dairy farm, Perry put himself through nursing school while working on a ranch in Wyoming. He lives with his wife and two daughters in rural Wisconsin, where he serves on the local volunteer fire and rescue service and is an amateur pig farmer. Perry’s essays and nonfiction have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, Backpacker, Outside, Runner’s World, Salon.com, and he is a contributing editor to Men’s Health magazineHe is the author of five books: Population 485, Truck: A Love Story, Coop, Visiting Tom, From the Top, as well as the forthcoming young adult novel, The Scavengers.

Friends members are invited to a reception for members and volunteers at 5:30 pm, followed by the Friends' annual business meeting at 6:30 pm.  Michael Perry will speak at 7:30 pm.  

All Friends of the Madison Public Library members and all volunteers may attend the reception free of charge and may vote at the Annual Meeting. Michael Perry’s author presentation is open to all members of the Friends of the Madison Public Library that have paid dues for 2014-15 and to those who join the Friends that evening.  Friends’ membership dues are $5 (individual), $10 (family).
