Madison Public Library Hosts “Sneak Peek” of Wisconsin Film Festival

Three Madison Public Library locations will offer free screenings and discussions with filmmakers
Get a head start on film festival fun at Madison Public Library! Residents across Dane County are invited to another free “Sneak Peek” preview of this year’s 20th annual Wisconsin Film Festival (April 5-12, 2018). Attendees will watch trailers for this year's films, learn about the ins and outs of the Wisconsin Film Festival from festival organizers, and take part in guided discussions about the largest campus-based film festival in the United States.

The excitement continues with the 6th annual Pinney Mini Film Festival on Saturday, March 17, 6:30pm at Pinney Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road, Madison. The Pinney Mini Film Festival will present four short films that screened at the 2017 Wisconsin Film Festival, as well as a Q&A with some of the filmmakers and Wisconsin Film Festival Coordinator Ben Reiser. This year’s mini festival will highlight several female filmmakers just in time to celebrate Women’s History Month, including Violet Wang, Kate Jianqing Feldt, Megan Monday, Brijetta Hall Waller, and Christina Ciano. Willy Street Co-op is generously donating refreshments.
The festival thrills don’t stop there! Crestwood art teacher Luke Bassuener and students have teamed up with The Bubbler for a hands-on stop motion animation workshop on Saturday, March 17, 2:00pm at Pinney Library. Participants will watch two short stop motion films made by Crestwood students, one of which won a Golden Badger Award at the 2017 Wisconsin Film Festival. Then, learn how easy it is to create your own stop motion short film. Children under 7 will need help from an adult.
